Camping Although there is no camping in Tonto National Monument, the surrounding Tonto National Forest operates numerous campgrounds. The Forest Service offers hundreds of sites for tent and RV camping all around Roosevelt Lake, many of which are within a 15 minute drive of the monument. You will enjoy our scenic, shaded picnic area just down the road from our Visitor Center, or one of the many picnic areas surrounding Roosevelt Lake. Roosevelt Estates is 10 miles away and has two restaurants and one hotel. Tonto Basin has more options and is 20 miles west on Highway 188. Globe, Arizona is a larger town about 30 miles east on Highway 188.
