NPS / Laurel Brodsky Getting Around the MemorialThere are paved sidewalks connecting the Jefferson Memorial to parking along East Basin Drive and Ohio Drive and to the other monuments and memorials around the Tidal Basin.You can get to every part of the memorial without using any stairs. There are ramps with handrails on either side of the memorial that lead to the lower level of the memorial. ElevatorOn the lower level, there is an elevator down a ramp past the restrooms and park store. It goes up to the memorial chamber where you can see the statue of Thomas Jefferson, inscriptions of his quotes, and a small exhibit gallery.
NPS / Laurel Brodsky RestroomsThere are accessible single-user restrooms on the lower level of the memorial. Some restrooms also have baby changing tables.There are two drinking fountains by each set of restrooms on either end of the lower level. 
NPS / Laurel Brodsky Lower Level ExhibitsThere are two entrances to the memorial's lower level on either side of the stairs. All doors can be opened automatically with a push button.Once inside and past the restrooms, a ramp with handrails leads to the exhibit area. There is low-pile carpeting and a couple of benches. There is plenty of space to move around with a wheelchair or mobility device. Upper Exhibit GalleryThere is a small exhibit gallery on the main level of the memorial. You can get there by taking the stairs up to the memorial chamber or by taking the elevator. The entrance is by the front stairs on the opposite side as the elevator.The gallery has smooth floors and a bench. The door can be opened automatically with a push button. There is plenty of space to move around with a wheelchair or mobility device. 
NPS / Laurel Brodsky Park StoreOn the lower level of the memorial, there is a park store selling souvenirs such as books, t-shirts, mugs, and stickers. The park store is down the ramp near the elevator to the chamber.See hours for park store. 
NPS / Laurel Brodsky Braille and Tactile ElementsIn the upper and lower exhibit spaces, there are tactile maps of the National Mall, the memorial, and the exhibit layouts with braille labels. There are bronze models of the memorial, statues, and other architectural elements that you can touch. Audio DescriptionAll the exhibits at the memorial are audio described. Each panel has a headphone port where you can plug in you headphones to hear an audio description.The park brochure is audio described. You can download the files for the audio described version of the brochure. There is also a text only version that is screen reader compatible. CaptionsThere are no video elements with audio in the memorial exhibit areas.American Sign Language (ASL) InterpretationASL interpretation is available upon request at no charge. Please contact us at least three weeks before to your visit to make arrangements. Service AnimalsService animals are welcome at the Jefferson Memorial. They are legally permitted anywhere that visitors can go. Service animals are individually trained to perform a specific task that assists a person with a disability. See the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) definition of a service animal.Emotional support, therapy, companion animals, and service animals-in-training are considered pets under the ADA.
