Black Sand Basin Ski Trail

The Black Sand Basin Ski Trail is a groomed easy ski that follows parts of the Firehole River and connects the Upper Geyser Basin to Black Sand Basin.

The Black Sand Basin Ski Trail is a groomed 4 mile (6.4 km) round trip, easiest trail that takes you from the Upper Geyser Basin to Black Sand Basin. Begin in front of the Old Faithful Visitor Center and take the Upper Geyser Basin Trail past Castle Geyser. Turn left onto the skier-tracked trail to Daisy Geyser, stay to the left and continue to the snow vehicle road. Black Sand Basin is across the snow vehicle road.

Notes: Stay on boardwalks and designated ski trails. The ground is unstable in hydrothermal areas.

The duration will vary depending on skier fitness level, snow conditions, and length of time spent along the trail.
Qualified service animals are welcome throughout the park and in all park facilities. However, they must be leashed and under your control at all times.

The trail starts in front of the Old Faithful Visitor Center.
Accessibility Information

This machine groomed easiest trail provides flat terrain. The trail elevation gain/loss is 80 feet. Service dogs allowed.
