Whiteoak Falls (Upper)

This challenging hike to cascades and waterfalls has been popular since the early days of Skyland Resort. This particular hike goes to the upper falls before returning.


Distance: 4.6-mile round trip hike
Difficulty: Moderate (hiking difficulty scale)
Hiking Time: 3 hours 30 minutes
Elevation Gain: 1,040 feet


Hike Description

  1. From the trailhead at the Whiteoak Canyon parking area (mile 42.6), take the Whiteoak Canyon Trail.
  2. Pass the junctions for the Old Rag Fire Road and the Limberlost Trail.
  3. About 2.3 miles from the start you will come to a rocky ledge with a view of the upper falls.
  4. Retrace your steps to return to the parking lot.
