Thing to Do
Stone Cottage Visitor Center
The Stone Cottage serves as the visitor center. Here you can talk with park rangers, obtain tour tickets, ask about how to plan your day and other things to do in the area.
The exhibits located in the Stone Cottage at Val-Kill tell the early history of the property including its inception and design, its function as a handicraft industry, and a gathering place for the Roosevelt's family, friends, and associates. The exhibits feature examples of items made at Val-Kill Industries, artifacts that illustrate the political and educational work of Eleanor Roosevelt and her friends Nancy Cook and Marion Dickerman, and candid16mm film footage of the Roosevelts and friends picnicing, swimming, vacationing, and working.
