Thing to Do
Become a Saugus Iron Works Junior Ranger

NPS/Saraceno
Work together or adventure on your own, this youth focused program is your one-page guide to your National Park! The Junior Ranger Guide can be completed in-person, online, or by using the National Park Service App.
The program consists of prompts to "Explore!" "Learn!" "Protect!" and transforms the Junior Ranger into a group facilitator. Valuing time spent together, the guide provides 3 questions to create connections while leaving space to explore on your own time. With hundreds of years of history, from historic preservation, indigenous culture, to biodiversity, there is something for every adventurer to discover at Saugus Iron Works.
To be a Junior Ranger, you need to: receive your badge, create your own adventure, and share what you found special with your exploration group! While designed and targeted towards youth visitors, Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site does not place age limitations on the program, anyone can be a Junior Ranger.
In the off season, contact us to receive your badge.
