Struggle and Triumph: The Legacy of George Washington Carver
Born enslaved and orphaned as an infant, George Washington Carver experienced a lifetime of racism, prejudice, and violence. He overcame many obstacles and gained national prominence as an agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian. Rising from humble beginnings near the small town of Diamond, Missouri, his quest for education led to a 47-year career at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.
To recognize his work as a distinguished scientist and advocate for interracial understanding, Congress established George Washington Carver National Monument in 1943-the first national park to honor an African American.
Produced in 2014, this inspiration 28- minutes film details some of the struggles and triumphs of George Washington Carver's life journey, showing how he became a role model for perseverance and achievement.
The film is shown every 45 minutes starting at 9:15 a.m. and last showing is 4:00 p.m.
