Paddle Eagle Lake

Discover the changing colors in the fall at Eagle Lake

Paddle the largest lake on the east side of Mount Desert Island. Circled by a popular carriage road route, Eagle Lake is a great spot to look for birds and other wildlife. Come in autumn for panoramic views of the changing colors.

Swimming, paddleboarding, and oarboarding are not allowed in Eagle Lake, as the lake provides drinking water for Bar Harbor. Pets are not allowed in the water. Motor boats are permitted with a maximum speed of 10 mph.

Continue east of Eagle Lake Carriage Road parking on Highway 233. On the south side (near Eagle Lake), there is a limited parking area with a restroom and cement boat ramp. Here, you can also access Eagle Lake Carriage Roads. Everyone must have their own life vest (PFD) when boating in Acadia. Children 10 years old or younger must wear their life vest at all times while on board.
