An In-Depth look at George Washington Carver’s Life and Times
Located in the visitor center, the museum and discovery area are self-guided experiences.
The museum is on the main level and offers visitors an extensive look at George Washington Carver’s life through wall-mounted exhibits and display cases with original artifacts.
The discovery area is on the upper level and contains interactive exhibits including primary documents that explore of the life of George Washington Carver. Children enjoy the discovery area. The history classroom is designed to look like a simple classroom that might have been found in schools during George Washington Carver’s lifetime. The science classroom is designed to resemble Carver’s Laboratory at Tuskegee Institute. Each area features wall-mounted exhibits.
The humanities focus area, located on the lower level, serves as the multipurpose room. Exhibits in this area explores Carver’s interest in art, music, his philosophies on reuse, conservation, and environmental responsibilities.
Depending on your interest and time, you can spend 20 minutes to a few hours in these spaces.

Accessibility Information
The park museum and discovery area are accessible to people using wheelchairs, walkers, or other assisted mobility devices. Currently, text for the museum & discovery area exhibits does not have a braille translation. The park’s brochure with braille translation is available upon request at the front desk. Pets are not allowed in the museum or discovery area except service animals. A service animal is defined as “any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.” Dogs are the only animals that can be used as a service animal except for miniature horses.
