Explore the Little Free Library

Nick Sacco/NPS
During your visit to Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, take a few minutes to check out the park's "Little Free Library." Led by Boy Scout Ryan Hasty and his fellow scouts in Boy Scout Troop 61, the library was constructed in July 2021. Ryan has volunteered at the park for several years and is a dedicated student of the American Civil War. Knowing that Ulysses S. Grant was a passionate reader, Ryan remarked that "I decided to build a Little Free Library to share Grant's love of books" with others.
The concept of a Little Free Library is straightforward. Take any books that catch your eye, and donate books you'd like to give away when you can!
The Little Free Library is located on the northwest corner of the parking lot and accessible during the park's standard operating hours, 9AM to 5PM daily excluding Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
