Thing to Do
Enjoy a Picnic at Scotts Bluff

NPS/Bob Buhr
Planning on a picnic? Scotts Bluff National Monument offers a picnic area just east of the monument visitor center. There are three picnic sites. Each site has a covered table and garbage can. There is access to a restroom with flush toilets and running water. The restroom is located on the east side of the visitor center and remains open even if the visitor center is closed. As you prepare and enjoy your meal, help protect the monument, wildlife, and yourself:
- Never feed wild animals, including birds and squirrels
Animals that become dependent on human food may become aggressive toward people and have to be euthanized. - Store all food when not in use
Keep all food, garbage, or smelly items in your vehicle so that animals cannot access them. - Use stoves properly
Camp stoves may be used to prepare food in the picnic area. There are no grills and campfires are not permitted anywhere in the monument. - Do not camp in the picnic area
Overnight camping is not permitted at Scotts Bluff National Monument.
