The front entrance to the visitor center building has a steep incline and narrow doorway. For better access using a wheelchair, it is recommended that visitors use the rear entrance that has a more mild incline.
The boardwalk path travels from the Visitor Center to the cave shelter. While wheeled items such as wheelchairs and strollers can travel the whole trail, be aware that there are some steeper portions of the path that may require extra effort to roll along.
The asphalt that paves the hiking trail was placed in the 1960’s and is therefore broken up in several places along the path that require maneuvering over rocky terrain. The overall elevation gain is about 400 feet with steep switchbacks. Moss regularly grows on the trail and can make the path slippery throughout the year.
