The Memorial Garden offers a quiet place to reflect on the legacy of Cesar Chavez, and a place to pay respects to him and his wife, Helen, at their gravesites. Look for symbols of the farmworker movement that are incorporated into the Memorial Garden's design, including the fountain along the back wall that's dedicated to the five martyrs who gave their lives to support the cause. If you're looking for a longer walk, venture just a short distance farther into the Garden of the Southwest. Along the garden's paths, an array of desert plants was planted to represent the plant communities of Cesar’s birthplace in the Gila River Valley near Yuma, Arizona.
