Behind the Flat Hat: Ranger Careers

Any of your students daydreaming of becoming professional athletes? In Grand Teton National Park, we have climbing rangers who climb the mountains and dangle from helicopters as they fly in to help rescue people from the Teton Mountain Range! Do you have students interested in becoming professional artists? We have a graphic designers and carpenters who work in National Parks! Perhaps a student who's curious about a career in medicine? We have Emergency Medical Responders who work on ambulances and help people with medical emergencies.With Grand Teton National Park as the backdrop, students learn how classroom subjects apply to real life jobs with the National Parks as they explore careers in law enforcement, wildlife science, trail work, and more. Students gain an understanding of the wide variety of park sites and the kind of work that goes into protecting these special places for generations to come. We offer modified programs for grades 2-5 and 6-8. Each program lasts ~45 minutes including a question and answer period for your students.
