Background

Behind the Flat Hat is an interactive program that we offer via Skype, Google Hangout, or other platforms. Two versions of the program cover grades 2nd-8th and will be available during National Park Week in April.

This program highlights different jobs found within the National Park Service while drawing connections to things students are currently learning in their classroom. With Grand Teton National Park as the backdrop, students will learn how classroom subjects apply to real life careers with the NPS. By exploring ranger jobs ranging from law enforcement to wildlife science to trail work, students will gain an understanding of the wide variety of NPS sites and the kind of work that goes into protecting these special places.

We offer this program for grades 2nd-5th and 6th-8th -- the content for each program is essentially the same, we just take different approaches with each age group. Each program lasts about 45 minutes
