Washington, DC – On Friday May 26, 2017 shortly before 6 pm United States Park Police were requested to assist the Smithsonian Police regarding suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Hirshhorn Museum. A Smithsonian Police Officer reported to have found a noose hanging from a tree while conducting security checks on the grounds.
The the noose was located inside the dense canopy of a tree, located on the west side of the plaza. It is unknown when the noose was hung or how long it had been there.
