Tractor Trailer Crash Closes George Washington Memorial Parkway

McLean – On Thursday, February 23, 2017 at about 2:30 pm United States Park Police responded to the report of a tractor trailer crash northbound on the George Washington Memorial Parkway near the CIA. The operator of the tractor trailer was airlifted by the USPP Eagle with serious injuries. At this stage of the investigation, the cause of the crash is unknown. The tractor trailer left thenorthbound lanes of the Parkway just before the CIA overpass where it struck a tree. The northbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway were closed from approximately 3 PM and will remain closed for a reconstruction of the crash scene, as well as clean up. The tractor trailer is a mail carrier truck and was authorized to operate on the parkway.
