Washington – At approximately 8:00 a.m. the United States Park Police recovered two stolen presidential seals from the residence of Daniel S. Lewin of Northwest Washington DC pursuant to a search warrant issued by the District of Columbia Superior Court.
One seal was reported as missing from the Kennedy Center on December 6, 2016 by a special police officer employed there. The other had gone missing in 2015. The USPP conducted an investigation that led to the recovery of the stolen items as well as the arrest of Lewin who was charged with first degree theft.
Lewin was a volunteer driver at the Kennedy Center and was positively identified from surveillance footage within the venue.
