Multiple Vehicle Crash Closes BW Parkway

Date: October 11, 2016

LAUREL – On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at approximately 12:37 AM, the United States Park Police responded to the southbound Baltimore Washington Parkway south of Route 198 for the report of a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in several patients being transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. Witnesses on the scene reported that after the crash happened, a man armed with a gun exited one of the vehicles wielding a gun, fired at least one shot, which did not strike anyone, and forcibly took one of the other cars at the scene.

The carjacked vehicle was later recovered in the Northeast quadrant of Washington, D.C. The suspect, or suspects, is still outstanding.

 The Baltimore Washington Parkway was closed southbound from Route 198 for approximately six hours. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
