Each of our five parks has a distinct museum and archive collection based on the purpose and history of the park, and the resources in each park.
New Documentary and Cultural History Research! The American Experience, a PBS series, presents "The Swamp: Nature Never Surrenders," a history of the Everglades ecosystem in the 1800s and 1900s. The film uses a variety of historical documents, photographs, and film--including archival material from the South Florida Collections Management Center--to tell the story of the human struggle to conquer the Everglades. In 2018 Congress established the 400 Years of African American Experience Commission to develop and facilitate activities around the four hundredth anniversary of the landing of enslaved African people in colonial Virginia.
