Located off the south shore of Long Island, New York, Fire Island National Seashore protects 26 miles of Fire Island, a barrier island along the Atlantic Coast. The park is comprised of historic landmarks, windswept dunes, and maritime forests offering culture, recreation, and solitude. Visitors to the park enjoy the island's white sand beaches and coastal wildlife, including dolphins, whales, seals, and porpoises.
