Joshua Tree National Park provides striking environmental contrast and complexity. It can have cold wind, freezing temperatures and snow, and then become excessively hot and dry with temperatures exceeding 100° Fahrenheit.
Imposing cactus produce delicate, brightly colored flowers in spring. Artists are drawn to the desert’s unique light and spaces, which foster creativity under the vast sky. Joshua Tree’s dramatic landscapes and proximity to Los Angeles and Hollywood have also made it a popular setting for film, music videos, and advertising dating back to the 1930s.
