Shavers Mountain Spruce-Hemlock Stand, located within the Monongahela National Forest, represents an old-growth red spruce-hemlock stand, locally known as a “spruce flat.” The area is a disjunct component of the more northern hemlock-white pine-northern hardwood forest region.
