In the following Oct. after the return from the Leeward, as Lower Cal. was called, [Isaac] Sparks went over to San Nicolas Island [on the Peor es Nada]. Others accompanied Sparks… They removed the Indians, some 17 or 18 men, women, and children from this Island to San Pedro, and thence to Los Angeles and San Gabriel. I have heard from Sparks an account of the affair but do not remember the details distinctly.
