Dr. James Barron Shaw

James Barron Shaw, who studied medicine in England and Scotland, moved to California in 1850. He practiced medicine in Santa Barbara. According to Stephen Bowers, Dr. Shaw met the Lone Woman on the beach in Santa Barbara when she arrived with George Nidever in 1853. Dr. Shaw was also involved in sheep ranching and management of the ranch operation on Santa Cruz Island.
