Colorado

Colorado was a member of George Nidever’s sea otter hunting crew on San Nicolas Island in 1853. He assisted Carl Dittman, George Nidever, and three Mission Indians, whose names were not recorded, in the search for the Lone Woman on San Nicolas Island. Colorado’s real name was never recorded. He was an Irishman who received his nickname because of the color of his complexion (colorado is a Spanish word for red or red colored).
