Geologic Resources Inventory

Geologic resource inventories can help identify areas of geologic hazards.

Understanding the relationships between the physical (geology, air, and water) and biological (plants and animals) components of parks is vital to managing and protecting natural resources. This inventory provides information on geologic processes and features within parks.

The Geologic Resource Inventory team, working closely with a variety of partners, provides parks with a geologic scoping meeting, digital geologic map data and poster, and a park-specific geologic report. These products are designed to enhance stewardship of park resources by providing valuable information about geologic formations, hazards, and links between geology, history, and other natural resources.
