Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park welcomes pets while visiting. Please follow the National Park Service B.A.R.K. Ranger principles:

Bag Your Pet's Waste

Help us keep our park clean by leaving only footprints, and nothing else behind after your visit. Trash cans are located throughout the site and community to allow for the disposal of animal waste.

Always Keep Your Pet on a Leash

For the safety of your pet and park visitors, all pets must be restrained on a leash no greater than 6 feet in length. If you are looking for spaces to allow your pet to run freely off a leash, check out the Ste. Genvieve community dog park at the corner of Third Street and Washington Street.

Respect Wildlife

While we are a small, urban park, Ste. Genevieve is home to squirrels, birds, snakes, and rabbits. Pets can scare off these animals with excessive noise or if they are not properly restrained.

Know Where You Can Go

Pets are not allowed within any of the park’s buildings, including the welcome center and the historic homes. However, all park grounds are available for you to explore with your pet.

Plan Ahead

During your visit make sure your pet is never left unattended. Also, be mindful of hot and humid weather in the summer months as well as freezing temperatures in the winter. Bring plenty of water and be sure the pavement is not too warm or cold for your pet.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome inside all the park buildings. For more information on service animals please visit our accessibility page.
