Springfield Armory National Historic Site
Friends of Springfield Armory NHS
Springfield Armory National Historic Site and the Friends of Springfield Armory NHS are organizing a one-day public symposium on Henry Knox. Often overlooked in history, Henry Knox played a significant role during the Revolutionary War and advocated for the location in Springfield for our first National Armory. A book seller, husband, chief of artillery during the Revolutionary War and later Secretary of War.
We invite scholars, historians, archivists, curators, and other interested parties to submit abstracts for short presentations that address Henry Knox and his role in American history. Often referred to as noble and a visionary, we are interested in hearing about the complex and controversial man as well. How do we see Henry Knox today?
Presentations will be 30 minutes with 10 minutes for questions. Up to eight proposals will be selected to present to the public on May 6, 2023
Please provide an abstract of no more than 500 words to e-mail us. Abstracts need to include the presenter’s full name and contact information (name, title, organization, address, phone, email), and a 100 word biography.
