Mammals account for approximately one-sixth of the vertebrate species in the park. White-tailed deer are abundant and most often seen, and they are usually observed feeding in individual to large numbers at dawn and at dusk. Other commonly-seen mammals are grey squirrel, eastern cottontail rabbit, and the less commonly seen are grey fox and coyote. Nocturnal mammals include bats, the nine-banded armadillo, raccoon, opossum, and striped skunk.
