Inscription Reads: (front of monument) OHIO 20th INFANTRY, Commanded by Lt. Col. MANNING F. FORCE, WHITTLESEY'S (3d) BRIGADE, L. WALLACE'S (3d) DIVISION, ARMY OF THE TENNESSEE. (back of monument) This regiment was engaged northwest of Jones field at 8 a.m., April 7, 1862. It then supported the left of the division until about noon, when it returned to the extreme right of the army and was engaged here from 2 to 3 p.m. It had present for duty, officers and men, 491. Its loss was 1 man killed; 1 officer and 18 men wounded; total, 20.
