Photo Gallery - KNP Complex Fire

This photo gallery features images of firefighting efforts, protection of natural and cultural resources from fire, fire burning in the foothills and in giant sequoia groves, and fire effects, or what parts of the park landscape look like after the fire. In some areas, plants are sprouting back, while other areas will take longer to recover. Growth after fire depends on seed availability, and in some areas re-sprouting occurs from the bases of fire-killed shrubs or oak trees, or from root systems. If you visit the park, you will see areas where many trees died, but you will also see new growth. 2022 is another drought yearn, and moisture availability will limit growth in some areas. Explore this gallery to learn more about our response to the KNP Complex Fire, and how park landscapes change.
