PARK CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE MARIA
The San Juan National Historic Site is closing its facilities starting today, September 18th, 2017 in order to prepare for the impact of Hurricane María to the Caribbean. The park will remain closed until further notice, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

CLOSURE DUE TO HURRICANE IRMA
San Juan, PR. –The San Juan National Historic Site has begun shut down procedures today, September 4, 2017 due to Hurricane Irma. The fortifications of Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristobal will be closed today at 6:00 pm and will remain closed until further notice. In addition, all administrative facilities will be closed.

Caribbean Parks Working Closer Together
Each Caribbean unit of the National Park Service is significant to America’s natural and cultural heritage. The NPS recently finalized a management review, which found that by pooling services, we could more effectively protect and preserve these national treasures. A more closely defined working relationship between the Caribbean parks could open access to resources and expertise while strengthening park operations.

The National Park Service regrets to inform the public that a piece of Puerto Rico’s history was vandalized by graffiti
The National Park Service regrets to inform the public that a piece of Puerto Rico’s history was vandalized by graffiti. The vandalism is located at the San José Gate, between Santo Domingo and Santa Rosa bastions in the city's north wall, giving access to Santa Magdalena de Pazzi Cemetery which started operations in 1814.

The San Juan National Historic Site Announces The Partial Closing of Castillo San Cristobal
The San Juan National Historic Site has approved a Commercial Filming Permit for the production of a movie beginning Sunday, June 4th through Saturday, June 10th, 2017, located at Castillo San Cristobal. The permit will require intermittently closing the visitor center and a full closure to vehicles needing parking, including Commercial Use Authorization Operators, on Monday, June 5th, 2017 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm and Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 from 9:00 am-11:00 am.

Temporary closure of San Juan National Historic Site
San Juan, Puerto Rico- San Juan National Historic Site will be closed effective today, Sunday, April 30th at 1:00p.m. “The decision to temporarily close the park is out of abundance of care for our team members and visitors during the May Day event. We want to ensure that no one is placed into a position where they will be stuck in extreme traffic or distressed while providing their public service or attempting to visit their park” said Superintendent Randy Lavasseur. The planned May Day event will affect Old San Juan and the roadways into and out of the greater San Juan area; this decision was not made lightly.

Tourism to San Juan National Historic Site Creates 85.1 million In Economic Benefits Report Shows Visitor Spending Supports 1065 Jobs In Local Economy
San Juan, Puerto Rico - A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 1,456,552 visitors to San Juan National Historic Site in 2016 spent 85,162.5 million in communities near the parks. That spending supported 1,065 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of 104.363 million.

San Juan, Puerto Rico- Superintendent Walter J. Chavez invites you to come to Castillo San Felipe del Morro and participate in the “12th Annual Artisan Fair at El Morro” on July 23 and 24th, 2016. “Come and enjoy a weekend with local artisans and their crafts.
