Management

MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the National Park Service to preserve the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and to protect the Theodore Roosevelt home, and other associated resources where the Roosevelt family lived; and to interpret the life and significant accomplishments of the 26th President of the United States.

Sagamore Hill NHS is managed by the National Park Service, a federal agency within the United States Department of the Interior. The webpages in this section will explain how Sagamore Hill operates, provide facts about our staff and volunteers, introduce you to organizations we view as our partners in running the site, detail laws and rules pertaining to the site, etc. We hope that these pages give you a better understanding of how the National Park Service and Sagamore Hill work for you.

Superintendent’s Compendium

The purpose of the compendium is to provide the public and park employees with a document that lists the special designations, closures, public use limits, permit requirements and other restrictions imposed under the discretionary authority of the Superintendent. The Superintendent’s authority to implement these provisions is found in Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), § 1.5(a). The compendium is available to the public upon request. The compendium will be reviewed and updated annually or as needed to ensure adequate protection of the park’s resources, provide for public safety and enjoyment and to address changes in public use patterns.
