Soundscape / Noise
It would be ideal to present the missions as quiet as they might been during Spanish-colonial times, but the reality is that the city of San Antonio has grown up around the various mission sites and the soundscape has obviously changed from those historic times. Additionally, nearby Stinson Airport (one of the oldest continually operating airports in Texas) produces air traffic that can be heard at some of the sites, particularly Mission San Juan. Ironically, this mission has the potential to provide a rewarding experience to the visitor at it relates to enjoying natural resources and solitude.
