Youth Conservation Corps (YCC)

Native species are losing the fight to invasive species and trails are disappearing. We need you! Get paid to accomplish needed conservation work in your local National Park.

Join the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) and become an important member of a cadre of dedicated individuals who work and play in the national parks. As a member of the Youth Conservation Corps you will personally have a role in protecting the nation's precious resources during the 8 week summer program.

What you will learn

Students will gain valuable skills, including teamwork, leadership, conservation, landscape management and communication. They will also develop an understanding of the enviroment through educational opportunities, hands-on work experience, and several field trips to some of Virginia's natural and historic sites.

Program Logistics

Every summer, five youth are hired for eight weeks (July and August). They work eight hour days Monday through Friday, for which they are compensated $7.25 per hour.

As a member of the YCC's summer program, you'll work to protect and preserve Richmond National Battlefield Park's natural and historic resources. You will assist with invasive vegetation, water quality monitoring, trail work and much more.
