Improtant Safety Notice

Pu'ukoholā Heiau National Historic Site follows Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance in the count or all the countries where the park is located to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The health and safety of park users, employees, volunteers, and partners continue to be paramount. Visitors are urged to recreate responsibly by planning their visit in advance and acting with care.

Current COVID-19 hospital admission level: Low

Mask requirements are based on the CDC identified COVID-19 hospital admission level, noted above.

HIGH: all individuals over the age of two must wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, in all federal builds. Indoor areas include, but are not limited to, park visitor center bookstore, museum, restrooms, and administrative offices.
MEDIUM and LOW: masks are optional.


  • Mask are recommended in crowds when social distancing cannot be maintained. Maintain at least six feet of distance between you and others.
  • Mask are still required for everyone on all forms of public and commercial transportation.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you coughor sneeze.
  • If you feel sick, please do not visit the park.

We will continue to monitor all park functions to ensure that visitors adhere to CDC guidance for mitigating risks associated with the transmission of COVID-19 and take any additional steps necessary to protect public health.
