Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition PlanThe preparation of an accessibility self-evaluation and transition plan is mandated by regulations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as they apply to the US Department of the Interior. Public entities are required to evaluate their current programs, policies, and practices dealing with accessibility and to develop a strategy for making the necessary changes to improve them. The NPS released a draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial for a 30-day public review and comment period from 11/7 – 12/7/2024. Park staff's efforts did not result in public comments. This plan and its recommended action items are not definitive solutions but describe a strategy to help park staff reach a more accessible destination. Park staff welcome further suggestions from all interested parties who want to continue to improve this important national resource. The final plan:
