Description
New Orleans JAZZ NHP’s Song o’ the Day:
“Happy Birthday to the NPS”
Birthdays are abundant & warrant celebration. Just like opinions & other things, we all have one. I do; you do; the JAZZ Park does (Oct 31 ,1994), as do Chalmette Monument & Grounds (Mar 4, 1907) and Jean Lafitte NHP&P (Nov 10, 1978). Nevertheless, today, August 25th, is the date (in 1916) that President Woodrow Wilson signed the act creating the entire National Park Service, a new federal bureau within the Department of the Interior.
So this is a “birth” day that all Americans can celebrate, and, ever up for a party, “Parkies” have provided various means to that end at the “NPS Birthday” web page. Personally, my gift to the National Parks, and indeed, all of you, is that, although present at this song’s recording, I did decline to intrude my voice into the Happy B-Day chorus, thereby sparing all of you… You’re welcome & Happy 105th Birthday, NPS!
