Talkin' Jazz with Fred Kasten: In Concert is a captivating blend of interesting talk and great music featuring top jazz artists in New Orleans, hosted monthly by award-winning radio producer and interviewer Fred Kasten. This event will be a mix of interview and live performance.

Fred Kasten is an independent contributing radio producer/host at WWNO. After working at WWNO for over 20 years as an on-air talent, producer, and program director, Fred retired from full-time work in May of 2007. Fred is a native of Mobile, Alabama, a graduate of the University of Alabama, and a long-time resident of New Orleans. In addition to his work at WWNO, Fred develops independent audio projects from a home studio, producing radio features, commercials, and podcasts. Fred also does marketing and media consulting for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Herman LeBeaux is a percussionist, composer, arranger and educator. The New Orleans native emerged on the music scene in the early 80’s. LeBeaux holds degrees from Xavier University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. While completing his masters’ degree program at UMass, LeBeaux had the honor of studying under the tutelage of the famed Max Roach. While LeBeaux’s main area of musical works has been primarily in the jazz idiom performing with famed jazz musicians, he has made the transition effortlessly into all genres of music. Taking his talents to the big screen, Herman was a cast member for the Oscar winning movie, Ray, where he played the drummer in the Ray Charles’ band. Herman LeBeaux has performed and/or shared the stage with legendary performers: Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, Max Roach, Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, The Platters, The Drifters, the, The Doobie Brothers, The Time, Cameo, Marilyn McCoo, Lloyd Price, Mose Alison, Irma Thomas, Charles Neville, Kermit Ruffins and the list continues.
