Geovane Santos Trio

Geovane Santos is an Afro-Brazilian 7-string guitarist, composer, vocalist, educator, and scholar based in New Orleans. Trained in classical guitar at UEMG, he holds an M.A. in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Latin American Studies at Tulane University. A recipient of the 2017 Louis Armstrong Jazz Composer Award, Santos is recognized for blending performance with critical research on race, cultural appropriation, and musical translation. Founder of New Orleans Brasil Day, his projects include The Griot Series and tributes to Jobim, challenging narratives around Brazilian music and identity.

Today, Santos will be joined by Nick Benoit (bass) and Fernando Lima (drums).
