Description
Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering several Cedar Creek Battlefield ranger-led driving tours this summer. This 2-hour tour will begin at 2:00 pm. Meet at the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation Museum & Visitor Center, 8437 Valley Pike, Middletown, Va. The group will follow the park ranger’s car and caravan from stop-to-stop.
The tour follows the major events of October 19, 1864, and stops at five to six key sites. The Federal victory at Cedar Creek ended Confederate resistance in the Shenandoah Valley. Coming just three weeks before the presidential election, news of the victory boosted morale in the Northern states and helped carry Abraham Lincoln to a landslide reelection.
This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
