Concert: Ava Dunton
The Longfellow Summer Arts Festival brings music, poetry, and community to the East Lawn of the Longfellow House on Sunday afternoons through the summer. All events are free and open to the public. This concert is presented in partnership with the Berklee Summer in the City concert series.
Ava Dunton (soprano) is a current Master of Music in Opera Performance student at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying under the tutelage of Bradley Williams, where she has performed as Pamina in selected scenes of Mozart's Die Zauberflote and covered Cathleen in Ralph Vaughan WIlliams' Riders to the Sea. She graduated in 2022 from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. While an Apprentice Artist with Opera Ithaca for their 2022-2023 season, she made her role debut as Diana in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, as well as participating in the chorus of Verdi’s Nabucco and William Grant Still’s Highway 1, USA. Her other performance credits include Goldie in the workshop of Jens Ibsen's Rumpelstiltskin and the Unlovable Children with Glimmerglass Opera, Zweite Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Luke Housner’s Summer Opera Workshop, Maggie in the workshop of Ben Morris’s The Rip Van Winkles with Glimmerglass Opera, La princesse in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges with Ithaca College Opera Workshop, and Maggie in the world premiere of Sally Lamb McCune’s We Wear the Sea Like a Coat with Ithaca College Opera/Opera Ithaca. She was also a finalist in the Ithaca College 2022 Concerto Competition.
