Description
Immigrants from Sicily brought the tradition of a St. Joseph's Day altar with them to their new homes in New Orleans, and each year on March 19, elaborate altars adorned with baked goods and fresh foods are created in homes and churches throughout the city. Local historian Laura Guccione will create an altar at the visitor center on Wednesday, March 7; it will remain on display through Saturday, March 18.
