Description
New Orleans JAZZ NHP’s Song o’ the Day:
“Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”
“White House Outlines ‘Made in America’ Executive Order Implementation”, shouted from my inbox this morning! Once clicked, the GovExec Today article went on to warn, “Agencies must designate a senior official to spearhead efforts to support domestic manufacturing.” OK, while I’m no “Official”, I could qualify as “Senior” and shall assay to give good “spearhead” to this “effort” by featuring the “Down on Their Luck Orchestra” (DOTLO) for our Song o’ the Day. I mean, what’s not “Made in America” about a band of National Park Service Rangers’ sultry rendition of a Cannonball Adderley number recorded with Ray Charles’ old electric piano, and popularized by the Chicago Sunshine Pop band, The Buckinghams?
While we’re at it, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” might appropriately celebrate June 15th‘s other proclaimed observances: World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, National Day of Prayer for Law Enforcement Officers, Worldwide Day of Giving and the questionable coincidence of National Prune Day with Global Wind Day- Oh, Mercy!
From: Best of the DOTLO (live)
Written by: Joe Zawinul
Performed by: The Down on Their Luck Orchestra
Featuring: Lightning Joe Stolarick (drums), Ranger Matt "Lil Hampster" Hampsey (guitar), Michael Harris (bass), Jimmy Jam James Barry (saxophone) & Richard "Piano" Scott (piano)
