National Park Service French Quarter visitor center in Dutch Alley - 916 N Peters St, New Orleans, LA 70116. We are behind the row of shops on Decatur St. Walk between the sock shop and the sunglasses shop. We are next to the Marche event space and the Dutch Alley Artist Co-Op.

Sidiki Conde and Wowo Souakoli

At the National Park Service French Quarter visitor center in Dutch Alley

On Fridays at 2:00 pm

Join us for a performance by our Artists in Residence, joined by local musicians including Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes and Peter Carter.

Sidiki Conde became a dance despite losing the use of his legs to polio as a child in Guinea. He is a drummer, a soloist, a composer, and a choreographer.

Wowo Souakoli is a master guitarist from the West African country of Guinea. Souakolis is a master of the traditional guitar which transposes the music of the balaphone, the lead instrument of the Malinke culture dateing back to the 3rd century. Sauakoli’s guitar give the traditional culture of Guinea a voice in the modern age. Souakoli was non-verbal as a child, but the guitar gave hime voice and with time, the confidence to speak.

Together the two founded Message D’Espoir, a music and dance ensemble composed of artists with disabilities.
