Located northeast of the visitor center, at one of the most beautiful viewpoints along the south rim, the amphitheater was built using native limestone and provides seating for visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the Colorado River, Zoroaster Temple, and Bright Angel Canyon. It’s an ideal spot for ranger-led interpretive programs or just relaxing and soaking in the canyon view.

Description

Special Juneteenth Afternoon Program

A special aternoon program will be presented on Juneteenth, (Wednesday, June 19, 2024), about Black American history at Grand Canyon, and reflections on accessibility and representation on public lands.

Meet at 4:30 pm at Mather Point Amphitheater, on the rim of the canyon and just a short walk north of the Visitor Center. The closest parking to the amphitheater is in Visitor Cemter Parking Lot 1. 

Note: this program is in lieu of the regular 4:30 pm Exploring the Endangered program that is  presented at the Village Amphitheater, between Thunderbird and Kachina lodges, in the Village Historic District.
