Night Skies Over the LBJ Ranch
Discover the wonders of the night sky at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park during Night Skies Over the LBJ Ranch on Saturday, November 7.
From 6:30 to 10 p.m. park rangers and members of Hill Country Astronomers will guide visitors through an evening of stargazing and exploration. Telescopes will provide views of stars, globular star clusters, and distant galaxies while participants learn about the importance of protecting dark skies.
Designated as an International Dark Sky Park in 2021, Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park offers visitors an opportunity to experience the beauty of the night sky. This event will take place on the LBJ Ranch Airstrip which provides a particularly good vantage point due to the wide-open space and unobstructed view of the sky.
Founded by a group of amateur astronomers in 2011, the Hill Country Astronomers’ educational mission encourages the public to learn about astronomy and space science. For more information, visit www.hillcountryastronomers.com.
