Description
Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a ranger-led driving tour of the Fisher's Hill Battlefield on Sunday, September 22, 2024. This 2-hour tour will begin at 11:00 am. Meet at the Strasburg Visitor and Information Center, 33229 Old Valley Pike, Strasburg, Va.
Following the Third Battle of Winchester, Confederate Gen. Jubal Early’s Army of the Valley settled into a defensive position south of Strasburg. Gen. Sheridan kept up the pressure by attacking at Fisher’s Hill and outflanking the Confederate defenses. The overwhelming US victory opened the agricultural rich Shenandoah Valley to a military policy of total war. Join a park ranger for a driving tour of the battle terrain. The tour will visit several areas preserved by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation. There will be an optional walk up the grassy slopes of Ramseur’s Hill.
This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
