Description
Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a Battle of Berryville talk as part of the Battle of Berryville Encampment event hosted by the Clarke County Historical Association. The program will begin at 2:00 pm. Meet at the Clermont Farm, 151 Clermont Lane, Berryville, Va.
Join a park ranger to learn how the lesser-known Battle of Berryville on September 3, 1864 impacted the Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1864. The result is generally considered a draw although, after Confederate General Early’s withdrawal, the Federals held the ground. General Sheridan’s drive through the Shenandoah Valley continued with victories at Third Winchester, Fisher’s Hill, Tom’s Brook, and Cedar Creek. The Federal momentum in the Valley had begun.
Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
See the Clark County Historical Association's event page for more information.
