Description
Rachel Singel, an artist and associate professor at the University of Louisville, will demonstrate papermaking using fiber from invasive plants at 5:30 pm Tue May 30 at ArtWaves MDI, 1345-A State Highway 102 in Bar Harbor. Please register at https://artwavesmdi.org/
This free event will open with a brief talk by a member of the park’s invasive plant management program, then Singel will describe and demonstrate her papermaking process. As time and materials permit, participants will have a chance to make an invasive plant paper sample.
This is the first public outreach of 2023 for the Artist-in-Residence program at Acadia National Park, which is commemorating the 30th anniversary of its founding in 1993. Starting this year, the program's operating costs are covered fully by donations from sales proceeds at America’s National Parks® stores throughout the park.
